Necessary Hiking Tools – Part One

If you are planning on going on a hike soon, make sure you’re prepared! Hikes are a great way to take in the sights and enjoy some nature. However, they involve a little more effort than just taking a stroll around your neighborhood. We at Infuze LLC know the importance of hydration and being able to access water whenever you need. Read on to learn our list of the top things everyone should bring with them on a hike, regardless of how intense or mild it may be.

The Right Shoes

If you are going on a small hike or one that won’t involve a heavy pack at all, you can probably get away with a solid pair of trail shoes. However, if you intend to go on any sort of longer hike or carry a heavier load, a pair of hiking boots might be a better decision. The same goes for hikes with rougher terrain where boots might offer some more support.

Map and Compass, or a GPS

A good map and a reliable compass can tell you where you are, but it can also tell you how far you have to go. The right hiking map will also let you know where the closest campsites, water spots, and emergency exit routes are. A GPS can be helpful, but the map and compass should come with you every time in case the GPS doesn’t work for whatever reason.

Extra Water

This is where your hydration pack comes in handy! A water bottle is a good choice, but a hydration pack allows you to move around without worrying about carrying a bottle. Also, without enough water, your body’s muscles simply can’t perform at their best. Dehydration can make you more susceptible to altitude sickness as well! If you are worried about the amount of water you can bring with you, find a travel purifier. That way, any water you find will be safe after a little work.

Extra Food

You could get lost or injured, and while these things are certainly not the end of the world, they could mean that you end up on the trail a lot longer than you had hoped. With that said, nothing is worse than being stuck somewhere with no energy and no food. Bring along some healthy snacks, like trail mix or a granola bar, to keep you energized and satisfied.
